Throughout our history of producing and selling fine accoutrements the studio has met the unending challenge of passing time with constant evolution. Every work we produce contains the seed of craft and the spark of ingenuity. It’s work whose radiance and beauty doesn’t falter or fade, but endures, undimmed by time or the whim of fashion, to be embraced as art by Japan, and now, the world.

Founded in 1861 in Gojo-Sakaimachi, Kyoto, Imayo has spent over 160 years striving to embody the singular aesthetic sensibility of Japan — a beauty born of four seasons, of nature's ever-shifting grace. In pursuit of that vision, we have honed our craft and embraced each new challenge. Alongside artisans who unite sensitivity with skill, we continue to bring forth works of enduring quality.
